Mycelium-based nanocomposites
Our research explores how to harness mycelium’s ability to convert protein-rich waste streams into new materials. In this context, we employ submerged and solid fermentation approaches to develop various material platforms, from printable hydrogels to composite textiles.
Protein-based films
Together with SuNMIL, we are developing multilayered protein materials for packaging applications, relying on protein waste streams. Current efforts are directed toward the design of single-layer and multilayer films with enhanced functionality.
